Running to catch up!!

 

DAY 5!

 

Today we write about:

What are your favorite cat books?  

 

This was second hand when I picked it up

and have to say what a joy! 

The cat had such a similar story to Blackie that it was almost unbelievable when reading the words -

I kept thinking ... they have my cat!

It was all about a rescue cat... dirty, starving and untrusting....just as Blackie was when we found him..  so I was hooked.  (And I tend to read Christmas books at Christmas time - this was last years)

Today... YES today, Hannah went to a giant book fair where the whole community donates their unwanted books for charity and then we can go in and hunt for great finds ... and low and behold...she found this one for me!!   Number 2!!  Who knew!!  So yet to read, but looks as sweet as the first one! 

Another kitty book for a Christmas time read!

Cat Lovers Hop Day 4

 

 

My oh my,  the days move along so quickly!

 

Day 4!

 

Today the story is about:

Tell us about a time when you had to travel with your cat.

 

That's often! It's the dreaded vet visit!  I try to hide the cat carrier around the corner of the door where Blackie cant see it, then with one quick careful scoop up..... he's around that door and into the carrier before he has a chance of realising what's happening (he has monthly visits)

Otherwise... he goes all 'starfish'  and claws with me trying to get him into it!

 

So once in the car....  not a peep... until we are almost there and then he starts....yeow-ing

on the way home yeowing!   Awful sound! 

Why do I feel so guilty!! 

And I find myself apologising to him!

 

Sheesh, they were right when they said

'Dogs have owners and cats have staff'!!!

LOL...so jolly true!

 

Another page :)

 

Chirp is our pet sparrow  (another little chick rescue job)  and she teases Blackie.. its remarkable that he just doesn't swat her when she swoops on him (yes that's right - she swoops him for fun!!) That shows how much Chirp does not know about the outside world.

I know Blackie 'thinks' about grabbing him... yet the feeling passes and he looks away.

Day 3

 

Another interesting subject to chat about

(and its really great to actually get these questions written down)

 

Tell us about a close call one of your cats had, an incident that could have ended in tragedy, but turned out okay in the end

 

 

Back in 2005 I needed to fumigate the house and finally getting the children in the car, and the cats out in their cat run,   I wasn't sure if one of the girls needed their homework to take with us, so heading back out to the car to check, and unbeknownst to me,Blackie had managed to undo the cat door and managed to squeeze escape back inside.  

I  went back inside grabbed the homework - set off the room 'insect bombs' closed the doors and headed to the car.

 

And you know that feeling when you've left the iron on??  I had that awful feeling to check the cats.. and sure enough - only one in the cat run

 

PANIC! PANIC! PANIC!

 

Holding my cardigan over my nose and mouth ran back inside in the 'fog' and there was Blackie lying on his side under the dining table - OH MY GOSH!

 

 

I scooped him up and rushed outside.... locked the doors and really locked the cat door, and headed to the vet.

 

The vet took care of him and slowly he came around... and with some TLC was back to his old self soon enough

 

 

So close to heart break... so glad he is still with us :)

Love these little fun facts about our cats

Today :

Something funny or cute your cat does.

 

 Blackie's favourite food is

cooked chicken breast (like who wouldn't!)

The moment the word 'chicken' is mentioned...

his eyes pop wide and seems to forget he has arthritis

Standing to attention!

 

We have to resort to spelling the word!

but I swear he knows how to spell!

His eyes drill into one of us until he gets what he wants!

 

No need to explain what word was mentioned here!

Cat Lover's Hop

This is the third year I've played along with Janis over at

Her Peaceful Garden

 

Its all about cats - really any project possible!

It makes me get in my craft room and actually put life aside for a little while and scrap!

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 1

 

GAME:  Kitty Roll Call
Today,  we were asked to name of each of the cats that call our home their own.

 During Kitty Roll Call, tell a little about your cats and may add to the roll call any that you have lost since last Cat Lovers Hop.  :( :( :(

I only have one... he is still here!!  Surprising since he is 17yrs old and arthritic!

His life (and my emotions) have been going through so many ups and downs - and sometimes I so sadly think he may only have weeks to be with us, then after a vet visit - rallies and he's fine again.  I've been to depth of despair and back again so many times!

  Its truly a roller coaster of constant tension then relief. Repeat, repeat, repeat! 

Thank goodness for steroid needles as his life is so much easier with a monthly dose (was on weekly and with antibotics  for a little while)  All is good at the moment.

Blackie is my re-educated ex-feral.

What a beautiful cat he has turned out to be and I've never had another cat like him before.

 

 

 

 

And a little project to add in;

A bit of Project Life, sometimes I just don't have time to pick out pockets, so do a multiple photo full page instead... being time poor, anything that works is good!

 

 

There's day one done!

Paint Party Friday... bit of PL, and another Quilt

Oooh I'm soooo happy how this turned out.

 

Watercolour /Paper cuts on a folded in half watercolour paper

then stood up in front of the window with the glare shining through.

So silhouetted a little

 

 

The process....

 

Cutting the pieces out.. and start painting..

 

 

Finish the watercolour...

 

Could quite easily put other colours behind??

Not sure what to think??

 

 

 

 

 

But doooo love it in front of the window sitting up there like a card

Keeping it white ....

 

 

There... lol... that was a bit of overkill (maybe)

Did a little baby quilt for my God-daughter's new little baby girl :)

And lastly, went to  a 3 night Scrappy Camp this past long weekend :)

 

I managed to finally get my Project Life Album up to date...

 

 

so much so was scrapping photos from my eldest daughter as she uploaded photos to her facebook page while she is in Africa!!

 

All comfy including slippers! We all had so much room - fabulous!

Yes, its been awhile! Paint Party Friday....

 

 

Back from my hiatus!

Mainly brought about by work overload (of my own doing!)

And at the moment, I'm on holidays for two weeks, so looking at all the things I love to do, and not been doing!  (or very little of them)

 

I do have some old hobbies I have made time for...

Finally got this basted together with the batting inside!  (Made the top part

 before Christmas, but never actually put it together to quilt the thing.



 

All done!

Basic Grey Jovial Fabric, with a Basic Grey black grunge fabric on the borders and back.

 

And very loved already...

The girls home in a wonderful chilled out time together..

HAPPY EASTER!!!

 

How did Easter in 2017 come around so soon?

It was only Christmas a moment ago!

 

 

This is how the beginning of this year has been.

Between going away on holiday, coming home to work and business has just boomed!

At a time when I thought it would be good to go the other way - the opposite happened...

and with that - UGH - Bookwork!

If you only knew how much I LOATHE bookwork/emails/phonecalls! Soooo much of it!

 

Anyway... scrapping, crafting, arting - has been a little light on, but its still there -

 in the background and will post some soon :)

 

 

First though... the EASTER TABLE....

 

Weeeeeeell,  Paige now studies away and its her very first Easter without us (very sad face)

I did mention to Hannah... maybe I wont do the Easter breakfast table this year....

and she was HORRIFIED!  and went on to say its a must!  No discussion!

 

 

Soooooo..... must is was.... and here it is....

 Bit of blue and pink and white

 

 

 

 

Then it was off to the farm with all the extended family for lunch :)
