Let's Get Shabby Challenge #27 is up!

The last few days have been busy with being out of town for my aunty's funeral (which was just beautiful) It was wonderful to be among a lot of family, some of whom we havent seen for a long time.

I'm going to be away for the next few weeks with work and for holidays too, so I'll be popping in from time to time.

But first off...

Let's Get Shabby #27

 is all about choosing an image from

TallulahBelles

and start creating!

Here's my image (its from the 'sold' section)

and this is what I created being inspired by the colours, the rows of buttons and of course the crocheted doilies and trim.   I also attached a little safety pin to the dress as well.

A sad day...

Last night our Aunty Pasty passed away. She had been quite sick for a long time...

I looked through some of my scrapping to find these wonderful photos I scrapped of Mum and Aunty Patsy when they were young girls.  We've talked about these photos not long ago at Aunty Patsy's house.  The giggles between them were so funny.  Their eyes lit up recalling the 'old days'.

Today the girls and I stayed home and had a day just being together.

It was overdue.

I LOVE working with Canvas and Prima does it so well!
I've got two projects to show you here.....

First up is the MISTABLE CANVAS SHEETS-
Wow this was really SOMETHING to work with. I've looked at them before and wondered what they were 'reeeeeeeelly' like, and so glad I took the chance finally.

What a treat this turned out to be!!!

Here's where you will find this particular one in the shop (and here are other designs too -just scroll down a bit. I'm going to get more!!)


I didnt cut out the shapes first because I wanted the different coloured mists to kinda overlap each other a bit to make them look more 'variegated' if that makes sense
(Sorry bout the pic, but its a night-time shot-it doesnt show colour properly - just wanted it dry for the next day)


(Now its morning and better colour and light!!) I've cut the flowers and leaves out and arranged them how I thought they would look


But what I thought would look cute were little crocheted 'stamens' and some wonderful kindyglitz for the edges of both the leaves and flowers!




Then I did a spray mist splotch on some Kraft and held it up so the extra mist ran down the cardstock - they made the stems for the flowers!


AND lastly - all put together and decorated

SECONDLY -
Is the Screen Printed Canvas - I love the colours in this...

I'm adding this paper to the mix
Annalee Collection 'Parlor'


I've cut out most of the lengths in this, inked and overlapped the pieces.


Then I've inked onto the canvas to mimic around the border of these overlapped strips so it gives a bit of shadow definition when the LO is put together. And I've placed a cut-out photo of little Hannah on the butterfly to give her 'wings'


And here it is finished!

STEP BY STEP PRIMA MINI-ALBUM

I love picking my papers and getting all the embellies in the right place after moving them around and around and exchanging from the stash for something else - sometimes several times.... and finally its just how it's supposed to be... but the sticking down is just the worst of scrapping.  I LOVE getting my projects to that laid-out stage, then to move bits of it to stick down...they never go back the same way!!!

However, it is what it is... and whatever form, they usually end up here....

STEP BY STEP

Just LOVE the moulin Range and made up this little mini-album from the Mouline Rouge Note Cards in a box You can make this project from any line of the Note Cards not just Moulin Rouge - I had my eye on it because it fit Hannah at dancing really well!


Sticking two matching cards together back to back made it thick enough for a page in the album


Some of the cards didnt match perfectly because they are asymmetrical


So a bit of paint


And ink helped heaps!




Then using my CropAdile and some eyelets gave it that 'finished' look rather than a heap of journaling cards stuck together


Arent the Prima Trinkets cute! Perfect for this!

Here's my Shabby Challenge at Global Scrappers

This is a Hannah at 4yrs...  She really loved this little rocker.

My friend Tania watched over the making of these little houses,

flowers and birds...she's an expert at it!

I added my thing to it and

I'm really happy the way they turned out!

Scrap Therapy Project...

SCRAP THERAPY is about to embark on a fun project loosely based on ABCs of everyday things.

(Weeeell, it can be on anything you like!)  And twice a month  Deb will issue an alphabetical letter to base your page on.  She has also put together a tute on a making covers for an album if you'd like to do one...

OR you can make your own, with whatever size you like OR you can use an existing album.

I've had this Pink Paislee 12x6 album for ages, and its perfect for my ABCs!

I just had to alter the front and back cover cos I'm not totally into the black and cream pattern.

I taped the spine because I really like the black and white houndstooth pattern, so that was staying

And with Gesso, the covers were painted and then modgepodged for a finish.

Then added some very wide vintage white and red trim and some alpha.

And love how the black and cream pattern faintly shows through...

What was lucky - is that the album came with a clear plastic slip cover...so I put that back on!

I'm all set waiting for this Friday night (13th) for the release of the first 'letter'!

Scrapped into the Night........

There's something about the silence of late night scrapping when everyone is in bed.

And scrapping away I realise I use this time for deep thought, going over the day, worry about whatever needs worrying about at the time, smiling over funny things, making plans for what needs to happen next, plan holidays, and plan things that may never happen... all the while the tv is going but whole shows can come and go and suddenly I realise that I've not listened to one word of it.

But my hands have created constantly in that time.

Last night was one of those nights, this time worrying about where Meaghan was in London, and why I couldnt get hold of her.

(It turns out she'd been sent by her work away for four days far north-east a port - so all is now well with our world)

Have you ever had a go at playing with one of Prima's Paintables?

Using watercolour pencils and deepening the colour by brush and water is so much fun!

And by using my Room Inspiration # 2 LO as an example, here's how....

Choose your watercolour pencil/s


Start colouring in! Shade lightly for pale colour - and a heavier shade will encourage a darker colour.


Find a paint brush and some water


Start painting the water on...






Here's the finish:


This is a relatively easy LO to do... just added some rosettes under the photo and some butterflies!

I'd love to see some of the other paintables done... I know I'm going to add a few more to my next order
