And we have a really sad day today....
Remember 'Chirp'
She was our rescue Sparrow who fell featherless from our big tree
out the front, so we nurtured her and she became a pet...
We were very lucky that Blackie showed no interest in her. He seemed to understand both Chirp and Maggie (our cockatiel) were off limits.
She was always in my December Dailys
And she was as sassy as can be both tormenting and swooping Blackie our old cat,
and Maggie our gorgeous Cockatiel
Weeeell, poor little Chirp (4 yrs) was sitting quieter and quieter and
not her usual sassy self... She didn't mind us handling her
And today she passed away...
Its easy to think that sparrows are just garden birds,
but they are incredibly intelligent with amazing personalities.
Even though we could not release Chirp as she would never survive,
she enjoyed watching the garden birds through the day in her cage with Maggie,
with both flying through our house of an evening, settling to riding around on our shoulders.
We are all a little sad.
xx
