Hmmn.... I've decided...

I'm just not an Art Journaler I think...

I'm so loving Jump Start and how wonderful are the tutors and their fabulous tips...

I'm learning alot! 

This was a mixture of Jumpstart 3, 4, and 5

A result of Catherine's idea of getting past that ugly page and transforming it (it took a bit!) and my fear of journaling feelings  -  Karens - 'Get everything out in front of you' and Anna's repeat the pattern with curves. 

I'll perservere, and say yep - I've done it (smile)

Art Journaling isnt new to me, I've done it many times before,

but its the WORDS that get me.... that journaling part!

It's that putting those feelings out there....

Weeeeeeeeeeell, its just not me.

I love the art process though, and thats fabulous...

But I force myself to put words down, resort to rubons, and to be honest, that makes it not a joy (rolling eyes)

 When journaling or making a title of anything for any project - hmmn, I tend to make them adjectives and nouns and envy all the wonderful art journalers who can just do it so beautifully and easily. Maybe I've got to resort to quotes of some kind?

 Anyway, I've learnt more about me and my craft (smile) and thats a good thing.

  Jumpstart #6 was about using Pan Pastels and sadly I dont have any of these, mainly because I wasnt sure what to do with them... but now after watching some of the videos on the Pan Pastel site... wow - I really would love some!

It's on my shopping list!

Nathalie for #7 showed us how she gets inspired by getting out and photographing street art or anything that helps her create then can turn it into reality at her craft desk

And #8 Lou Nelson does what I do - walk away!  But she goes for a wander to cafes and reads through all sorts of magazine genres for inspiration.... plus much more like blog hopping, photographing anything that catches her eye  and supplied us with fabby links!

 Global Scrappers...

Using Basic Grey...  the top layer is Sublime (remember that? It was and still is the most wonderul range of paper Basic Grey put out so long ago.  If I find it - I'll buy it!  The base paper is Blush.

I've lined up the horizontal lines in the photo to the colour bar lines in the paper...

 Using thick string can indicate a fence

 Hannah in the tulips!  The title is from the Beatle's song.

Used rhinestone brads(had them forever in my stash) to represent the pink tulips, and I love using tissue paper for layering, it adds a nice dimension.

JumpStart#1 was with Dina Wakley and it was about warming up to get started on sitting down to scrap especially if there's a mental block.  So she showed us some misting and painting techniques, and some cutting out and random sticking down just to get the juices in the brain flowing into creativeness... and this is what I did:

A tag which Ive used utee on the stamped heart (which was a technique from JumpStart#2)

This is the tag I've used as a bookmark for my Planner above.

All the tags together that I'll pop away in my stash for a time when they might be needed for a project.

JumpStart#2

was with Carmen Sanchez

Boy I loved this technique!!

It was using toilet paper wetting it and putting it through the Big Shot!

What messy fun!  It was dried off, misted, dried again and then covered with utee.

 

Folded the toilet paper.  

(I've used this technique before but with stamps) -

 Then put the wet paper through the bigshot...

Misted them (and Carmen cut her one down to ATC size, but I want to keep mine like this until I know what I want to do with them - grin

Here's a close up of the utee... love the final polish it gives!

Last year I created a wonderful 2011 Planner with

Creativity Prompt

 and I've completed my 2012 too.

I've cheated this year, and reused the pages I didnt use last year along with the monthly tags,

(because of being time poor)

 So here's my re-worked Planner ( it was soo easy to do!)

I've printed out new monthly pages and quite a few weekly spreads too

The cover was reworked too with some old sticky back canvas I've had for years! (with the little houses on it)  I popped a tag with ribbon in the Planner as a book mark so I can find my page easily.

And I have a little white bag to put it in too.

There are lots of options with this little Planner...

It can be printed on front and back of paper making it half the thickness seen here.

I like to print on just the front because that leaves the back of the paper for me to scribble excess notes onto.

There's also an 11 1/2 x 8inch size (mine above is 6x4)

I think I might do the bigger size next year.

You can use up excess paper (and thats a good thing!)

ANd it makes a fabulous gift! (using up more forgotten paper!)

Avital gives clear concise instructions along with a video.

My little planner is very different to one Avital makes which has clean lines.

Mines more to my style... Shabby and ecclectic (big smile), so you can easily put your own stamp on it!
