Here's my design team sample! I altered this little (inexpensive) beauty case for Paige. There is a gorgeous cottage feel which creates such an atmosphere when mixing gingham and floral together. Here I used floral and gingham quilting fabric to line this little case - Prima flowers and some fabric flowers to dress it up and a strip of Prima Ruby paper to hold the bottom part of the gathered gingham (in the case) in place. I also made a little pocket out of lace and prima paper for the inside of the lid.

CAN CAN GIRLS...

I just couldnt leave the gingham and floral alone!! I cut out the flowers and leaves from the floral fabric! This is my mother and my aunty! I've used Prima paper and flowers. Ooooh and some cream vintage lace, a vintage crocheted flower and red button from RUBY ST DESIGNS! RUBY STREET DESIGNS

I've had the BEST time because the kit is soooooooo gorgeous!!! I've added a few bits and pieces extra. You can click here to check it out closer so see what's in the kit. I love love love it!! I've still got enough to do another LO. The vintage bits are just gorgeous.....and while you are there check out the trims!!! They are extraordinary!!!........I cant help myself!! I try buy the gorgeous pockets as soon as they come in......but have missed out a couple of times because they go so fast!

Above LO is of my mother(11yrs) - she was taking part in a 'Peddlar's Parade' fundraising at the school fair. Her grandmother made toffees and they are just about all gone from her tray! PLAYFELLOWS Ooooh if only you could see the pic more....my mum and aunty are wearing those fabulous 'jodphurs' of the times! (about late 1940-ish) The title and the silouette I scalpelled from an old piano book! BATHING

My mother..... dont you just love that swimsuit!

Oooh the glamour girls in swimsuits in this kit are sooo inspiring.

I used some sandpaper on this card and inked it to give a more sepia look GLAMOUR GIRLS

THESE ARE MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Here's my LO for 'These Are My Favourite Things' and this challenge was scrapping in your favourite colour/s. Green would be it..... looking around my house and the colours I use, its definitely 'nature' colours....greens, browns (in woodwork), a hint of pink (though wouldnt have thought me as a pink girl!) Awesome Blog Missy Julie T-W!!! I've always liked green on my walls because it invites the foliage in....or looking out takes the room out into the foliage...

AUSSIE SCRAPJACK and SATU

Firstly I'm a bit excited because I won 'Scrapping Across The Universe' with my Easter tradition LO . That just made my morning when I turned on my computer! 'Let's Get Shabby' has a little reminder post up about Challenge#1 coming to a close so you might want to check that out. Boy are there some exciting things coming up!!! I've been scrapping away, some of my much loved blog challenge LO's and some dt stuff that cant be revealed yet, but I've made a bit of a concerted effort to scrap me a bit more. I never feel comfortable with it. Its not about what or what not to put on the blog re privacy etc, I just avoid it full stop! Soooooo as uncomfortable as it is.............here are two LO's......ugh I dunno....why do I feel sooooooo silly???

I absolutely loved the inspiration I got from this ad this week! The first thing I noticed was the tall mic stand and the leaves leaves leaves.......yep - green leaves...... I usually go with my first glance, the things that stand out in my mind......then morph them into composition in a LO. .. (weeeell try to!) I had the perfect photos and the page just fell into place.

WARRIOR This is from our family trip to Vanuatu in the South Pacific on one of the islands. As we got off the ship and into the foliage a bit we were surrounded by warriors with spears pointing at us yelling and grunting. Paige grabbed her dad and cried while the rest of us were bewildered as we were herded into a clearing. This man proudly stood with his stick and snake....and as a true scrapper - I keep my camera going now matter what! It was all part of the 'welcome' even though Paige didnt appreciate it one bit, and to get a 'feel' of what it would have been like when outsiders entered their islands..........heck.......their history were canibals!

123 JULY CHALLENGE

Here's my CT sample and the criteria is 'altered photo' - I've sanded away the colour surrounding Hannah and Paige's images, 'stamping with paint' and 'polka dots' - I kinda killed two birds with one stone on this one.....I stamped dots with paint, but I also stamped the title with paint too. The girls were engrossed in Naughts and Crosses - neither winning - both too clever for the other and each game ended in stale-mate! LOL

9TH JULY PHOTO

Paige working on her ballet homework....yes they have to study Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology and Nutrition. It forms part of their marks towards their exams.

10TH JULY 09

I cant stop looking at the beautiful colours of the leaves. This tree in our front garden is just a colour delight! Its still hanging onto its leaves even though we are midway through winter! 11TH JULY 09 Just a gorgeous moment in class where the younger students were looking at a snippet of Swan Lake on the computer for inspiration. These girls are extraordinary for their young age. This is not a posed photo - the reason why I reached for my camera! They are white swans for a performance next Saturday night. 12TH JULY 09

Paige in a parade (my sister just sent this photo through).Hannah was hidden within the crowd. Both the girls are away on tour this weekend (yes we have been kidless!!) with their youth choir performing in several concerts and workshops. Luckily my family live near their destination and were able to catch up with them and take some pics!!

WHAT IS OLD IS NEW

Oooooh girls!!!

Those fabulous 'WHAT IS OLD IS NEW' Embellishment Kits are OUT early!!! They are gorgeous!!! I received my Vintage Embellishment Kit yesterday and set about making up TWO LO's from the one kit for you- the only added things are the background paper and the alpha for the titles and of course a splash of paint with a little bit of stencilling!! Here I've created both a boy and girl LO examples

This is Meaghan practicing pointing her toes at Grandma's house back in 1987! (Grandma always had her camera handy and she never missed an opportunity!)

My brother had 3 younger energetic sisters, he often did sit back and watch, definitely the most shy of us all. The book picture was perfect! I'm not sure why the fabric turned out 'greener' on this layout - but its definitely blue! Photoshop and I dont always get on!! LOL!

I just had a play because if you wanted to use more than what you have in your embellishment kits.....here's just an added extra bit of lace and three flowers. Honestly what wonderful value are these kits!!! I've always been able to get two LO's from my Vintage one. (oh and this is the right colour of the fabric!! (Its much better to photograph in the daylight -this I know LOL!)

KiddieLit - The Velveteen Rabbit

I remember when Hannah received a 'personalised' book of 'The Velveteen Rabbit' - you know the ones where they subsitute the main characters' names for the child's name! She loved it so much because her 'Bun' was the Velveteen Rabbit and the converstations between the horse and the rabbit were paramount. Bun has had complete body make-overs by Grandma to keep him in one piece - AND now aged 14yrs, he has no arms - but nonetheless he is still loved as much! This is one of my favourite photos of Hannah (3) and Bun. You can find the challenge here

LIFE JUST GETS IN THE WAY!

I'd love a week off from housework, gardening, running kids around everywhere and going to work....just to scrap in my study, eat and sleep!! I've struggled to find time to get my scrapping projects done this week. (sigh) ART JOURNAL Yes, I'm doing one!! And having a wonderful time - I actually take this journal to art class with me so I can guarantee myself the time to enjoy this process!! This is my first page!!

SCRAPPING THE MUSIC #93

The first challenge of each month now starts with theme song from a movie! I LOVE this!! The first challenge is CHEERS! I had the perfect photos! Jenneke sent me a rak a while back of one of her famous dutch aprons......and luckily last week she put a pic up on her blog wearing one - so I sneakily 'stole' a copy off her blog and put it with my pic - and look - it seems we are in the same room! (giggle). It was a bit of a struggle to get the two cut out figures in the right place as I'm facing the light and Jenneke had the light behind her - so finally after moving us around and around the page - we came to rest with the lighting just right!!! (the things we scrappers think about!!!) So here is the end result - Three CHEERS for Happy Mail!!!

Ooooh (and shhh) and I think its someone's birthday today too!! Happy Birthday Blossom!!! (teehee)

I really had fun with this one - I did have in my mind what I wanted to do - but whether it was going to work out was another matter!! It became highly experimental to me! Lol!

Gosh - how fab is Texture Paste - I love it!!! I made the explosion part of the challenge with the flower in mind and filled the centre with beading! (another fav thing to do!)
