Yes, still scrapping away!

 

On a roll at the moment:)

 

And still being inspired by  the blog hop  ...

 

Clare shared her calendar focussed project and it was clear to me

to dress up my 'November' heading page in my little vintage diary...

Why November?  Weeeeeeeeeeeeell, because looking through my diary,
I forgot to do it!  Did all the other months, just not November! 

The spare page (with pencil scribbled lightly 'November') was there ready, just got overlooked.

Any wonder in this crazy busy life!

 

 Clare had used a image of a female on her calendar, so being inspired found this buried in my stash

a little playing card.... time for its next life!

 

 

So cut out the purple background and dressed her hair with a yellow sequin.

Included are some subtle arrows and a little camera with 'snap'.

(Its like this lady was posing for the camera!)

 

Diary headings are all finished now!

Next was a travel inspired 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' LO...

by Jacky and I thought... oooh!  time to get another page done for my LONG-neglected

travel album!!!  Searched the photos and found some pics that definitely fit!

My three girls spot the Carousel near the Eiffel Tower.

 

 

 

Even took a pick of the sign and it works a treat pointing the way to the girls crossing the

road towards the carousel....

 

 

Definitely they had fun!

Next  became a great excuse to get some cards done!

I've always said, I'm no cardie... but I do like to have some on hand for

occasions especially ones that pop up at short notice

 

Claire showed three little bird cards all with the same bird stamp with different styles, in  more masculine colours.

And I just LOVE birds!!!

I've done the same thing, one bird stamp, only that mine are styled almost identically,

but used  three colours for all three cards -

only changed around on each.

Black, kraft and off white (just had a bit of fun stamping the white on black!!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Now there's more cards in the kitty!

Back again for another little show and tell for

Jennifer Grace's 'Focus' Blog Event.

 

I'm still partial to what was shown in  the blog hop  ...

and this got the mojo a-hopping....

 

 

Sheena created a beautiful quote in gold, framed with a vintage paper background.

And recently I managed to get my hands on another little vintage German book (similar to the one I've been using for 'Hannah's Quote book'.)

 

 

  Because it's just being started, I needed to do a front page so being totally inspired by Sheena, I ran with the 'gold' and the vintage pages!  It was the perfect excuse to get it started!

 

No quote, but there will be plenty inside - filled with encouragement and comfort for Paige when she feels she needs some clarity :)   Just need to fill in now!

 

 

The 'For Paige'  is made with a chisel ended glue pen, and gold leaf.

Write the word and then gently press the gold leaf on the glue

 

Rub very carefully off with my finger..

 

 

 

Then paint over with a thin covering of Mat Modge Podge

and dress up with a couple of little blue birds which act as arrows 

pointing focus to Paige's name :) 

 

The little birds are edged with Lumiere metallic acrylic paint 'Brass' which

is very much a 'gold' not brassy at all.  The background is light stamped with

a suggestion of script writing.

 

 

Now its started... got to gather some lovely quotes!

Along the way on the blog hop were some great ideas

and great new links to consider and try out!

 

Leslie created a wonderful LO with an anchor point of a girl holding a few strings, each which reached out to a life event coming her way.  

I loved this idea, and began art journaling,

with sketching and inking and dripping with use of arrows, stamps and small titles

Everything at the fingertips.....

Next was an idea that got me a bit more organised

'K' brought this to my bedraggled attention with a spreadsheet of 'to do's!

I lost control of where I was with my 2014 Project Life album about October last year,

then picked it up in December...

Luckily I had printed out this sheet of weekly numbers and dates which was massively useful last year...

The page on the left is for 2014 and the one on the right is 2015

 

 

Yep... had this gap and forgot to keep getting to it to get my album finished!

 

 

And for 2015 - I even forgot to print out a list at all!!! (had been good keeping up with it

but started to fall in a hole when trying to find the dates corresponding to the week number).

Finally printied one out at the end of March - only to constantly lose both sets of paper. Folded and scrunched, they looked much like any other piece of paper.   Isn't this a lot of extra bother!!

 

 

So today, I made a little  'Sigh' booklet with arrows pointing up and down much like the dates to cover in both albums!

 

It was simple and full of cut-to-size scrap paper (great to use up)

a little page for each week with a plan, the date and ideas of photos...

(so loved doing this)   The 'sigh' card is a 4x3in so yep, this little booklet is small :)

A big change to the scribble all over and on the backs of my printed sheets with rough drawn out plans of pockets - and being so many, it was overwhelming to look at!

The little 'Sigh' booklet is nothing much really but a collection of information in order, tied together with a bit of string, and once pages are used and not needed, more pages can easily be added or discarded when finished

 

I've planned all my missing PL pages for 2014 now,

and even got this week and next week of 2015 done too!

 

 

And what's great is that I feel organised and finishing albums feels do-able!

Plus because the 'sigh' booklet is brightly coloured - I wont lose it so easily anymore!

It also slides into the front sleeve of either album 

A win-win situation all around!

No more scribble!

Oooh and this idea - I super love....

 

Visiting Jo's blog I found she worked with a few list ideas and gave links..

this is the one I love the most : The Reset Girl where you can find a list for May of prompts to set into your diary (or list book etc) for creative writing or embellishment...

This year I made my own diary by altering a vintage little blue book

and with lovely pages to write the days activities on, I thought I might add a prompt here and there and have a little 15 minutes of creative fun.... :Favourite Snacks:

 

 

How lovely is this!!!  I'm going to continue with it...

got to get onto todays - only need 15-20 mins :)

 

 

Jo also suggest having a little box to work from full of bits to use handy so its easy and quick to use.

I like this idea,  I've got one full of things I like to use, but the 'bits' (lol) part... needs to happen yet!

Jennifer Grace's 'Focus' Blog Event....

 

 

It's started!   And I've been scrapping a storm!

For the first time in ages, I've felt motivated and love what I'm doing

It's been a weekend of scrapping, scrapping and more scrapping

with some very surprising results

Heres why...

 

Jennifer Grace kicked the event off with:

 (aside from some great motivational prizes here there and everywhere)

a handmade brooch  (check it out here)

so that got my mind cooking with ....

I'd LOVE to make a brooch, though not having the same goodies to scrap with,

I went with what I've got (dug them out of the depths of beyond),  after all - it's about being inspired!

(insert **happy face!***)

 

                       Sooooo, starting with a pin wheel...         and using a black pen

                                (like this as a 'focal' point)           (turned out to be the surprise!)

 

                   Used this tray, a little star charm   and some pink string to co-ordinate

 

                     Pushed in the cut out paper 

                     see the sparkle :)                                 Filled with Dimensional Magic

  

 

                                        On with the glass bubble top and left to dry

                             (didn't put the clasp on the back yet as it needed to dry flat)

                                                              So happy with this!

 

 

 

 Now to the surprise bit!

 Oooooh chemistry!!!

(insert **shocked** face this morning when I checked on it)

Look what using the black ink pen did!!!!!

 

So much for the contrasting pink string!!!!

 

 

 

 EEEEEK! 

IT TURNED BLUE!!!!

(sorry, the reflection off the class top is hard to fix, it is clear, not murky in the corners) 

 

 LOL, nevertheless, I still love it!!!

 

Clasp on and lovely against white

(might change the pink string to blue?)

Next was inspiration from the blog hop :)

Jennifer Grace suggested:  to use frames, pick a colour to accent subject matter, and make a gallery like wall for a LO which suited my Week 20 of my PL album in a 12x12 form

Even black stitched a frame and using a black watercolour pencil, gave it some shadow and definition to look like a hung picture for the gallery look, its actually lies flat :)

encouraged us to scrap 'sport'

SPORT!!!! ???

Right-ho - weeell if anyone knows me, they know I'm completely and utterly

sports-illiterate!

BUT, yes there's a 'but' - putting that all aside, you would think my girly girls are too...

 

Not-so.... they are gritsy-gutsy girls... and with their dad...

this is what they get up to.....

(thankfully without me - I find it too traumatic to watch!!!!)

Dune buggies and bikes! 

Paige and Hannah have a wonderful time taking part with their dad, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends

 

Yep, that's my dh...

and you can see where the photo has been extended into the background paper with stitching

 

 

 

Here's some stencilling with white jelly pen work with journaling.

 

The arrow stamp is actually a lino print I cut

It's been really 'different' doing grungy masculine work and a welcome change!

I've always loved extending the background past the photo and its been great to do some more of that again..... AND doing a LO - I've been project life-ing so much lately, doing LO's have become rare.

 

now... its back to some more scrapping!!!

 

 

 

 

 



Messy Box - Our Beautiful World....

 

 

I must show you this....

 

'A Beautiful Mess' has released a kit called

 

'Messy Box'

 

and I luckily stumbled upon it in its first release

(with thanks from Counterfeit Kit Challenges who featured it last month)

 

and as soon as I saw it...

 

weeeeeell, that was it -

I subscribed!!

SO..... with that said - lets put all the above said aside....

 and My Beautiful World!!

It's like opening a box of chocolates!!!

How beautiful!!



 

 

Now I cant wait for May's to come from USA to Australia

 (about 10days and also says how much I really really wanted it!!)

 

It fits so easily into my Project Life album and its keeping me motivated to scrap at the moment.

I am scrapping very quietly behind the scenes :)

 

It's also saying how much my style has been changing. 

An ongoing journey....
