The subject this week for

Our Beautiful World

is

YELLOW...

 

So I got busy and how lucky was this.....

 

A little beetle in the bottom of a freesia flower!

As the camera got in closer - the yellow of the inside of the bloom became more apparent as with the mustard yellow of the beetle's outer-casing....

 

If you look closely.....

its the COOLEST beetle!!

Isnt he COOL and isn't nature just incredible!!!!!  (looks like a boy LOL)

Lino Cuts- My Favourite Tools at the Moment.....

 

 

 

One of the things I love doing in the Art Room is lino cuts...
I think these are my favourite tools at the moment, mainly because of cutting a  out 'stamps'...

 

Each Christmas, my cards are created from the prints of lino cuts, and lately, I've got quite the collection of images cut that I've sketched out first and crafted...
(I've turned over a big piece of Lino Cut to place the little cut image and scraps))
The tools I use are very old and still very sharp.
If you ever decide  trying lino cutting - make sure you always angle the knife away from you and your hands.

 

 

The printing of these shapes will turn up in projects soon....

It sure does beat searching for stamps and its more your own work (wink)

ART PIASKNOWNICA..

 

Just love this!!

 

Its not very often I put my drawings/sketches etc online... weeeell rarely- probably have done it only once or twice!

However.... when this challenge came up - here's one ...cos its one of those prompts that actually spirits action.....

 

 

For the first challenge - 'Flat photo'. Isn't it interesting?

It may be a sketch on the wall, on the floor, on a board or a simple page. Play with chalk, paint, fabric, pencils, flowers. Everything, what comes to your mind.

To make it clear: we want you to do a photo of people, animals, things or toys with a 'sketched' history.

So here is my result...
The nest of course is the sketch... and the branch (from the garden) is photographed sitting on top.

Aren't nests extraordinary !
Just look at the bird's little hand-picked (beak-picked) materials to weave into something that will be trusted to hold their babies.  Look at the feathers, pink and blue twine, even plastic bits and parts of chux super wipes!

 Art Room's nature inspiration....

A tightly woven nest.  I took my sketch from this....

Yet loved the thought of the pink and blue twine from the other nest.

Ooops, that's me  in Art Room (big smile.... with big stick in hand found in garden)

Could have spent more time with more detail... but sometimes its just nice to sketch something up, stick in a bit of colour... and not ponder too long, yet feel happy in the end.

Need to do more things like this

Moxie Fab World....

 

 

I've been a follower of Moxie's Fab World for a long time...

and this challenge inspiration picture to create a paper project caught my eye...

 

 

 

 

There were a number of triggers from the picture that became a process in getting to the finish of this project- firstly its the colour...  (lol, usually is!)

 

Little Paige in her brand new fold-up camp chair!

 

From the inspiration picture, I saw pencil lines... weeeell, pencils full stop!

So out came the watercolour pencils and drew/coloured (roughly) separated columns across the page.

 

 

Next the fun part..... dipping the brush in the water and blend the pencil colour in.



 

Use an fine-liner to give definition...



Then more fun parts... embellish!



 

 

Really loving colour at the moment!

This is a lot of colour for me.... it seems to be sneaking in more and more - along with use of patterned paper - maybe its the shift into Spring!

Our Beautiful World's prompt this week is

 

 

 

'Bubbles'...weeeell, at least here it's one bubble (in a way)

 

I was stuck for a while as blowing bubbles here with grown teenagers etc wasn't going to happen LOL.  However, with a glass bubble bauble hug in front of one of my stain glass windows with the light shining in from the other side, I couldn't believe the lovely result and deep colour...

Heee hee.. my arm was not long enough to hold the bauble out and take the photo,  so I went to the kitchen drawer and fetched some BBQ tongs!  Worked a treat!  (just had to get a bit resourceful!)

Slowly catching up!!! 

I wondered if I'd ever have enough weekly subjects to do a PL album, and as I go through the dates of photos on my computer needed for each week's page - it turns out that I have!

 

 

Skissedilla, Mixed Media, Counterfeit Kits.... a busy day!

 

 

Boy oh boy, has the mojo been scrapping happy at my house.

It's been a long time since I sat down to my table and just scrapped all afternoon and into the night.

The letting go of a lot of scrappy commitments and getting back to scrapping 'just because' has turned out to be the best move I've made in a long time.

It's been ages since I've just scrapped full LO's all at once other than Project Life...

so that's been fun alternating between the two. 

 

ANYway...... this is the fun I had last night.....

 

 

 

SKISSEDILLA #223

Had fun with gauze-fibre, gesso, stamps, sequins and kindyglitz...

Paige with an albino wallaby... she inched her way closer and closer, bent to show a kiss..

The wallaby was as curious as Paige... It was as if they were caught up in their own little world for a moment.

Then of course, it hopped away.

A Mixed Media Colour Challenge

Challenge #7

Using the three colours below as main colours and at least 2 different mediums.

 

Using patterned Kraft paper,  went with stamping paint in the kraft colour, orange and yellow.  Also over stamping lightly with black stazon ink to give a tiny bit of definition and using fine tip pen to draw veins in the leaves and journaling. The colours reminded me of autumn and decided to go with plantlife...

The leaves kinda just fell down the page.  Some 7gypies drippage helped with a tinge of green along with some sparkle of sequins and gemstones.

Our very lucky 'Maggie' who absconded twice and we got her back both times...each time so thankful she was home.... starving!  So much so, she's never done it again.

Counterfeit Kits Challenge - September

 

Challenge #1

Project Complete...... something that has been sitting around for awhile - finish it off...

 

I certainly have a couple of those and went with this one....

Blacky, sitting in his 'spot' - he watches everything and suns himself too.

I'm trying to remember to do more pages on our animals

 

Also there was an extra Kit Challenge... and this was to find a 2013 CHA paper kit and counterfeit it along with 5 embellies.  I really love the chalkboard products that the manufacturers are putting out at the moment and had already had a little bit of a buy... so was really happy to put this challenge to use!

I love the black, blue and apricot colours in Teresa Collins Memorabilia

 

Here's my kit made up of some CHA goodies, and also some older papers that fit.



okay a tad more than 5 emellies... who can help it???

 

 Soooooooo I've had a ton of fun....

 

 

Sadly... its now off to do housework!
