SO MUCH TO FIT IN....

Anyone would think that I save stuff up and then unleash on this poor unsuspecting blog... but LOL, in reality, it's just a matter of finding some time to sit down and blog it properly. And today, Mother's Day, time spent with the family is a joy. Even the cat seemed to demand attention today. And at the moment, he has no problem opening doors, just wish he could close them behind him! Its very chilly by night time, and a door left open... weeeell there goes all the heat!!!

So lets get to what's happening with scrapping!

The first Friday of the month at Scrap Therapy

issues the Inspirational Rooms Challenge.

You'll have a choice of three rooms...or do one or two or all three rooms if you like

Here are my interpretation of the rooms I've chosen

You will have to go here to see what they look like (bit of a tease!!)

In all three rooms, I've used My Minds Eye Stella & Rose

STEP BY STEP

Have you seen those little MME 6x4" transparencies that can be placed over photos and give a little 'frame' and fancy pattern to it??
They can be found in the My Mind's Eye section under

You may even have some amongst your stash (like I have!)

The ones I've used on my project here are no longer available.. but it doesnt matter which ones you use... its the idea of how to use them!!

With the transparencies, I've used Meadow's Lark Dawn Card Paper which I cut into little cards

You can use anything like this... or even just small photos!

Here's what I've managed to create - and it was total fun!

And before there is any throwing of hands in the air about sewing :lol:

- the only sewing is the bold red back stitch to hold it together! The rest is glue! :wink:

Here's how its done:

The ingredients:

Some fabric,
However many transparencies you might like (I used five)
Your set of cards or pics
Glue
Needle and embroidery thread
Any alpha or emellies for dressing your cover

STEP ONE

Cut a strip to fit the length of the transparency to 6cms wide
Using an iron, press over the the side edges 6mms,
then press the strip in half as in the photo

STEP TWO

Glue down the underneath of those 6mm edges, and glue the side of the transparency to the fabric.

STEP THREE

Glue the top edge of the fabric strip down on the facing side of the transparency, and stick your cover card or pic in the centre as well.

STEP FOUR

Now stick the next card or pic to the other side of the transparency so they two cards are centred and matched

STEP FIVE

Repeat this for all the transparencies you are using for pages. Keep using your first transparency page as a template to keep lining up those centred cards.

STEP SIX

Place all the fabric sides together ready for stitching. Make sure your transparency edges all line up too as well as the centred pics!

STEP EIGHT

Using back-stitch... sew down the centre of the fabric. I used a peg to hold the transparencies still and together in place.

DECORATE

It should look somewhat like this...

Teresa Collins Canvas LO

Teresa Collins has put out a wonderful canvas 12x12 sheet to play with especially if you love paint or gesso etc! It has a fabulous texture!

Here's what I did with mine:

It truly is fun!!

I covered it with impasto(or modgepodge etc) Then laid some old paper doilies on top

Covered them with some gesso but also added some really old paper flowers I had.... covered them with gesso too - for more texture!

And using Teresa's Blingage Carol's Clocks I smudged the clocks with gesso too!

So this is how its looking so far.. I've also got a corner of a baby wipe and lightly wiped back the petals of the flowers to show a little colour through the gesso

Now for the tissue paper - As soon as I saw this...I bought it just for scrapping!

So tearing off pieces you need to use impasto or the like and cover both sides of the tissue paper... I just use my fingers - I like to get messy!

Then add your embellies and a pic ...

And here's the finished canvas!

LET'S GET SHABBY Challenge #23

If you'd like to join us you will need:

for an Easter LO:

1 portrait 6x4 photo

I've cut the figure out of mine - but the full pic is great too!

3 double-sided papers -

You will use both sides of each, one needs to be quite dark as this will be your border. The others I have a mix of plain side and muted patterns in pastels. If you dont want to do double-sided, then have 3 single papers and scraps. All in all they need to work all together pattern and colour-wise to your taste.

Trims and laces

These need to vary in length between 8-10inches. How many doesnt matter but when laid out horizontally, one under the other, the depth should be about 4 1/2inches.

2 lengths of string or twine

approx 11 inch and 12 inch

Alpha or title

Mine is a chipboard title of 'Happy Easter' which I painted beforehand

5 small buttons

Embellies

Choose what will go with our LO, I've got a little bunny and chicken diecut (cut from a cricut I think) and a journaling spot if you dont want to write directly onto your LO.

Distresser

Paige marched with her Grandpa (who is next to her) in the ANZAC parade today

She wore her great great grandfathers medals and marched for him.
