I've been busy with a few projects for

These were kits I made up to take away with me while on holidays so was a wonderful relaxation

Paige was excited to find her books had arrived while we were away on holidays

So she got to work creating her covers

Hmmmm, the mists have been depleted somewhat!

But look at the smile on that face!

We're on holidays with a little scrapping too!

We've been away on holidays for over a week now to our annual trip to Coles Bay, Freycinet on the east coast of Tasmania. Its a lovely little beachside town with wonderful things to do.

dh has gone back home due to work, but we'll be still here until Monday...

I'm just not an Art Journaler I think...

I'm so loving Jump Start and how wonderful are the tutors and their fabulous tips...

I'm learning alot!

This was a mixture of Jumpstart 3, 4, and 5

A result of Catherine's idea of getting past that ugly page and transforming it (it took a bit!) and my fear of journaling feelings - Karens - 'Get everything out in front of you' and Anna's repeat the pattern with curves.

I'll perservere, and say yep - I've done it (smile)

Art Journaling isnt new to me, I've done it many times before,

but its the WORDS that get me.... that journaling part!

It's that putting those feelings out there....

Weeeeeeeeeeell, its just not me.

I love the art process though, and thats fabulous...

But I force myself to put words down, resort to rubons, and to be honest, that makes it not a joy (rolling eyes)

When journaling or making a title of anything for any project - hmmn, I tend to make them adjectives and nouns and envy all the wonderful art journalers who can just do it so beautifully and easily. Maybe I've got to resort to quotes of some kind?

Anyway, I've learnt more about me and my craft (smile) and thats a good thing.

Jumpstart #6 was about using Pan Pastels and sadly I dont have any of these, mainly because I wasnt sure what to do with them... but now after watching some of the videos on the Pan Pastel site... wow - I really would love some!

It's on my shopping list!

Nathalie for #7 showed us how she gets inspired by getting out and photographing street art or anything that helps her create then can turn it into reality at her craft desk

And #8 Lou Nelson does what I do - walk away! But she goes for a wander to cafes and reads through all sorts of magazine genres for inspiration.... plus much more like blog hopping, photographing anything that catches her eye and supplied us with fabby links!

Global Scrappers...

Using Basic Grey... the top layer is Sublime (remember that? It was and still is the most wonderul range of paper Basic Grey put out so long ago. If I find it - I'll buy it! The base paper is Blush.

I've lined up the horizontal lines in the photo to the colour bar lines in the paper...

Using thick string can indicate a fence

Hannah in the tulips! The title is from the Beatle's song.

Used rhinestone brads(had them forever in my stash) to represent the pink tulips, and I love using tissue paper for layering, it adds a nice dimension.

Last year I created a wonderful 2011 Planner with

Creativity Prompt

and I've completed my 2012 too.

I've cheated this year, and reused the pages I didnt use last year along with the monthly tags,

(because of being time poor)

So here's my re-worked Planner ( it was soo easy to do!)

I've printed out new monthly pages and quite a few weekly spreads too

The cover was reworked too with some old sticky back canvas I've had for years! (with the little houses on it) I popped a tag with ribbon in the Planner as a book mark so I can find my page easily.

And I have a little white bag to put it in too.

There are lots of options with this little Planner...

It can be printed on front and back of paper making it half the thickness seen here.

I like to print on just the front because that leaves the back of the paper for me to scribble excess notes onto.

There's also an 11 1/2 x 8inch size (mine above is 6x4)

I think I might do the bigger size next year.

You can use up excess paper (and thats a good thing!)

ANd it makes a fabulous gift! (using up more forgotten paper!)

Avital gives clear concise instructions along with a video.

My little planner is very different to one Avital makes which has clean lines.

Mines more to my style... Shabby and ecclectic (big smile), so you can easily put your own stamp on it!

Another exciting thing I've done this week is to play along with

Jump Start

coordinated by Nathalie Kalbach

(not sure if you can see these sites, you might need to register??)

JumpStart#1 was with Dina Wakley and it was about warming up to get started on sitting down to scrap especially if there's a mental block. So she showed us some misting and painting techniques, and some cutting out and random sticking down just to get the juices in the brain flowing into creativeness... and this is what I did:

A tag which Ive used utee on the stamped heart (which was a technique from JumpStart#2)

This is the tag I've used as a bookmark for my Planner above.

All the tags together that I'll pop away in my stash for a time when they might be needed for a project.

JumpStart#2

was with Carmen Sanchez

Boy I loved this technique!!

It was using toilet paper wetting it and putting it through the Big Shot!

What messy fun! It was dried off, misted, dried again and then covered with utee.

Here's what I did:

Folded the toilet paper.

(I've used this technique before but with stamps) -

like this clock here in 2009

Then put the wet paper through the bigshot...

what a fabby effect!!

Misted them (and Carmen cut her one down to ATC size, but I want to keep mine like this until I know what I want to do with them - grin)

Here's a close up of the utee... love the final polish it gives!

All ready for a project to come along!

I've watched through Jumpstart #3's video with Catherine Matthews-Scanlon , just got to have a go at it yet (wink)

I've been creating again for Tattered Inspirations, and this time with bottle tops that Carol sent...

They make groovy centres for flowers! I'm pretty happy how these have turned out!

Tattered Inspirations

Carol of Tattered Inspirations Etsy sent me some tiles to play with (along with some other fab bits and pieces too) And I SOOOO love her seam binding!! There isnt very often where you wont see a bow or two on my work somewhere!

With some 'seaside' tiles I created a net-like banner - they are adorable to work with! And sent with the tiles were two little golden charms which hang 'charmingly' from the net too

This was me with my family in 1965 at one of our fave family past-times - being at the beach!

I might try think of other ways to 'banner' the tiles (grin)

Wont pre-prepare one again!
The one thing I've learnt this time around (this is my third) that I've spent more time rearranging and adding in pages than I would if I'd created pages day by day in December as I've gone along like in previous years (lol)
Every year I learn something new though the one thing that stays the same is I love the end result!
The album is based on Simple Stories Christmas Kit
the overlay is Fancy Pants and the Covers are Teresa Collins which is from the Noel Kit - some of which is also below. The covers are covered the AC Kraft

Some of the journaling has been blurred for privacy in some cases (wink)

New Background with a Festive Feel!

Not sure what happened but my last background decided to shrink, and the place supplying the URL had some issues so thought it was the perfect opportunity to give the blog a bit of a Christmas makeover. I love the sides of this background but found it very difficult to find a header to match?? So kinda came up with the one above the best I could manage. Hmn, I wonder why headers arent made to match backgrounds? I guess alot of people make their own or use their own photography etc? Hmmn

Its still really busy here with end of year 'stuff'' still happening especially with the girls.

And both the girls and I have been in the garden getting it looking lovely again after its been neglected the last few months other than the good old mow and pulling a few weeds here and there, so our time is pretty much outside instead of inside scrapping at the moment!

Yesterday, Paige turned 15!

I have no idea where that time has gone...

Here's the birthday card I made for her. She loves the little dresses I make

Remember a while ago I made Paige this Canvas and told her not to peek if she was looking at my blog... weeeeell, I got away with it! She didnt even see it!

Concentrating hard on were she was going to put her little 'hangers' to hang her jewelry up with.

We shopped in the afternoon and visited the farm with family and went out for impromptu tea

Paige had a great day

Miss Maggie May.....

My gentle little Cockatiel

flew away last Monday night...

I opened the back door and from no-where she flew straight out over my head and gone!

Heart-broken...

And with all the rehearsal/production going on - it was almost too much

I rang the RSPCA and they took details, had an ad in the paper all week, put her cage outside with the door open, just in case (she was used to flying in and out of it) and went round the neighbourhood and parks calling (looking like a idiot) and nothing....

Miss Maggie has a bit of a deformed foot, so I thought she'd not last long with a weak grasp. But she is a 'thinker'. She has a little witty personality - loves to be cuddled and flies to people on command.

AND TODAY - the RSPCA rang me - the little bugger has been down at the firestation entertaining all the firemen and they reluctantly took her to the RSPCA! They said she flew down and landed on one of the firies shoulder and he carried her around with him. They wanted to keep her but knew she must belong to someone because she was so well trained!

She's so happy to be home,

And here she is..... home one week later after her ordeal...and eating furiously!

We still cant believe it!

Scrap Therapy and 123 Challenge

I've been very scarce lately, and trying to just get through my dt commitments as much as possible because work has been overwhelming and today is the last day in the theatre and my production has come to an end. The rehearsals have be unrelenting, and everything so far has been going well.

I've got my December Daily waiting and ready to be scrapped in but have only managed to have photos taken in readiness so far

In the mean time, my Room Challenge is up and on the go at Scrap Therapy...

Here's what you need to do:

This is a Christmas Challenge!

I'm only going to show you my choice of one room and the LO I've interpreted from it

What YOU have to do ...is the the same!

You have to PICK YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS ROOM!
Then you have to SCRAP YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION of that room and upload BOTH pics so we can see what you are working with!!  Its up to you if you do a Christmas LO or not - but CHristmas would be good!  Your room choice MUST be Christmas

Remember that :
its about using the colours. This is a colour challenge.

You could also be inspired by the design and layout of the room- or use specific elements or shapes if it takes your fancy- because when voting for a winner... if more than one person works the colour well - then how you design your LO gets figured in too!

You may indeed do more than one room - remember though - different room - different set of colours for each (max 3 so no different to the norm except - you are choosing your own rooms!)

This Challenge is open until 31st Jan,

so I hope that give everyone a chance to scrap those Christmas photos and have a little fun along the way!

I always love to do at least one Halloween project even though its not as popular here in Australia.

But my black cat is a fabulous subject!!

This was using Basic Grey (Manufacturer of the Month)

Its more about how my scaredy cat views the world

He scared of everything - he's a hide-er.

Here's my project...

Paige has been wanting a Canvas like this to put her jewelry on for ages...

I've made many before for presents - a long time ago when she was much younger

So I've made her this to go with the colours in her bedroom

and I've not put too many earring/necklace 'hangers' on it yet...because it would be better for Paige to arrange this how she wants it - so will be including a little packet of brads and wires etc in her present as well. She will have fun doing that!

Its been two weeks since I've been here......

And its all about catch-up! So much to do, so little time, and this poor neglected blog! Cant even get my life down to a slow galop and its felt like this for much of this year (probably why I dont know where the year has gone to - it has flown by!) The galop will stop - when the 3rd of December is over and finally the long summer holidays will be here. I'm just hanging out for then!

WHAT a week!

My computer died - just went dark and that was that!
It wasnt the problem because I had faith that what I needed from it would be rescued and transferred to a new computer. So off to my techie - who said 'No probs with the rescue, but new computer....'
What an ordeal!
How much 'extra' does one have to buy??
AND to get the things installed was such a process in which I wasted a couple of days and back to my techie we went! I wanted it to just 'work and be recognisable!'
In this day and age, you'd think we'd move on and things should be almost 'one touch' and hey presto!
HA! I dont think it could be made any more difficult!!!!!(shocked face)
GOOD GRIEF!
So after four days, I'm on the road to getting used to this very 'user unfriendly' thing!

ANd in the meantime have missed deadlines and got behind here on my blog.
Time to rectify that!

First of all, Charmane has asked us to answer a couple of questions to let you all know a bit MORE about us Creative Team Members. So here we go…

A bit about me:

I’m waving from gorgeous green (though very cold) Tasmania where I live in a big old house with a big veranda that looks out over the sea with my camera-shy dh and two of my three daughters (one has just moved to the UK with her dream job) who all feature a lot in my work along with our cat, birds and garden wildlife! I have a busy work life that often gets in the way of my scrapping!

My style is mostly as shabby chic - but I'll do something different every now and then. Most of all I love TEXTURE - fabrics and laces - layering and distressing, inking and PAINT! I don’t always start out with a plan – just a creative process that somehow takes form somewhere in the middle and crossing fingers it finally arrives at an end result (big smile) And goodness knows why, but…… it works!

I'm on the Design Team for Scrap Therapy - a fabulous online Store!

I was there in 2008-2009 and now again since April this year.

We have so many great challenges there and a fabulous shop.

Scrap Therapy also hosts retreats and mini-retreats in Cairns.

I own 'Let's Get Shabby' Challenge blog which has a wonderful Shabby Challenge once a month!

We have an international team of very talented scrappers - its been running since June 2009

Of course (big grin) I'm on the Creative Team for 123 Challenge (since July 2008!!)) and its acutally the very first challenge I ever did online! I can remember the nerves as I was finding my way clicking the mouse on my computer hoping I'd followed the rules and that my LO was 'okay'!! LOL!

And back when talented Lou (who is also on the dt with123) had Scrap Jacked - I've been on the team there too - and still am even though its passed hands to the lovely Bec who owns it now! So overall, I've been on the dt since February 2010, but scrapping there for such a LONG time before that! After my positive experience with my very first LO go at playing 123 Challenge, Scrapjacked was my very 2nd ever go entering a LO! They were my two favourites!

With a love for Altered projects, I'm on the team for LESSology too. It's new and fun!

Global Scrappers is a fairly new site of challenges with a group of us international friends who get together for some challenges and chatting. I come up with a Shabby Challenge once a month there.

If you like apps for your iphone, ipod or ipad, I've been on the creative team for 3 of the releases for Sketches2Scrapbook for Anam Stubbington. That started when I was on her DT for her Twisted Sketches Challenge Blog.

Other than that pretty much what I do or have done is on my right hand bar. There's tutorials too.

At the moment, I'm just trying to get some kits together to go away to scrappy camp in a couple of weeks!

Its here in Tasmania and there's no shop attached, just a group of scrappers that get together for some fun scrapping, much laughing and too much talking and eating!

No matter how organised I think I am - I ALWAYS leave something at home! (rolling eyes)

Finally school holidays here in Tasmania!

The girls and I are away visiting family for this next week (dh couldnt come as he had to work so is at home looking after cat and birds)

The last few days have been busy with being out of town for my aunty's funeral (which was just beautiful) It was wonderful to be among a lot of family, some of whom we havent seen for a long time.

I'm going to be away for the next few weeks with work and for holidays too, so I'll be popping in from time to time.

A sad day...

Last night our Aunty Pasty passed away. She had been quite sick for a long time...

I looked through some of my scrapping to find these wonderful photos I scrapped of Mum and Aunty Patsy when they were young girls. We've talked about these photos not long ago at Aunty Patsy's house. The giggles between them were so funny. Their eyes lit up recalling the 'old days'.

Sticking down is the worst.....

I love picking my papers and getting all the embellies in the right place after moving them around and around and exchanging from the stash for something else - sometimes several times.... and finally its just how it's supposed to be... but the sticking down is just the worst of scrapping. I LOVE getting my projects to that laid-out stage, then to move bits of it to stick down...they never go back the same way!!!

However, it is what it is... and whatever form, they usually end up here....

I've been playing a lot with Prima for Scrap Therapy

Scrap Therapy Project...

SCRAP THERAPY is about to embark on a fun project loosely based on ABCs of everyday things.

(Weeeell, it can be on anything you like!) And twice a month Deb will issue an alphabetical letter to base your page on. She has also put together a tute on a making covers for an album if you'd like to do one...

OR you can make your own, with whatever size you like OR you can use an existing album.

I've had this Pink Paislee 12x6 album for ages, and its perfect for my ABCs!

I just had to alter the front and back cover cos I'm not totally into the black and cream pattern.

I taped the spine because I really like the black and white houndstooth pattern, so that was staying

And with Gesso, the covers were painted and then modgepodged for a finish.

Then added some very wide vintage white and red trim and some alpha.

And love how the black and cream pattern faintly shows through...

What was lucky - is that the album came with a clear plastic slip cover...so I put that back on!

I'm all set waiting for this Friday night (13th) for the release of the first 'letter'!

Scrapped into the Night........

There's something about the silence of late night scrapping when everyone is in bed.

And scrapping away I realise I use this time for deep thought, going over the day, worry about whatever needs worrying about at the time, smiling over funny things, making plans for what needs to happen next, plan holidays, and plan things that may never happen... all the while the tv is going but whole shows can come and go and suddenly I realise that I've not listened to one word of it.

But my hands have created constantly in that time.

Last night was one of those nights, this time worrying about where Meaghan was in London, and why I couldnt get hold of her.

(It turns out she'd been sent by her work away for four days far north-east a port - so all is now well with our world)

For Scrap Therapy

I've made some envelopes and card out of Echo Park Solid Colour Paper. The cool thing about this paper is that its thick, double-sided, inexpensive and has fabulous contrasting colour on each side!

Also made this 'For the Record' little booklet with a tutorial including an easy stitch spine HERE

So after we got home from our holiday...

It was straight into rehearsal here for our ballet comps...

here are some of the photos from our group which got the highest score!

These are just quick grab shots in rehearsal, so not really in focus at all. Paige is in this too.

There were many solos and duos as well - it was a busy time.

And to top of this weekend was Hannah's Yr 11 Ball

Its not as formal as the Yr 12 one

BACK HOME, Cant believe our holiday is over....

It absolutely took no time at all to feel like we were back in reality at home and into committments that were waiting for us almost as soon as we returned. I was wishing the Volcanic Ash would stop us from coming home - I'd gladly have stayed longer!!

Nevertheless - there's a gazillion photos to scrap but yet a gazillion things to do otherwise to stop getting into scrapping those said photos!!

Wish life was easier!

Meaghan phoned from England... she'd been to the 'Ascot Races' yesterday and saw the Queen!

'Where's my photos?' Ugh... you'd think a daughter of an obsessed scrapper would think about it!

What a magic time we've had, and its almost come to an end

This is soooo sad!

The weather has been on average 27C everyday, a definite far cry from the freezing temperatures from Tasmania.

Getting away on holiday was pretty much a marathon with tidying up loose ends at home and work before we could get ourselves on that plane. Nevertheless taking that step off the plane into warm weather is just the most fabulous feeling after leaving in the dead of a cold night in Tassie!

Hannah and Paige could not wait to get to the lagoon on the waterfront in Cairns...a most favourite place of theirs! We just love this place!

While being away 123 Challenge has the new criteria up...

Tomorrow Lee-Anne and Danny from Scrap Therapy are picking the girls and I up and taking us down to Babinda to their bricks and mortor store where I'll be also catching up with the local girls and staying the weekend! They have such a wonderful set up there including a fabulous crop room !!

I cant wait to get amongst it!! It will be quite different to buying from Scrap Therapy online!!!

IT'S MID MAY ALREADY!

I cant believe how fast this month is going!! Five minutes ago it was Easter and last week felt like Christmas! How on earth did May happen so quick??

I'm itching for the end of the month (maybe thats why its flying past) Cos the girls and I are off to WARM Cairns for some rest and relaxation!! I've booked into an apartment (where we usually stay) in the middle of Cairns for shopping and lagoon swimming - then we are off to SCRAP THERAPY at Babinda for a couple of nights with Lee-Anne and Danny, and a wonderful get-together with the local girls! CANT wait!!! AND then Paige, Hannah and I are boating it over to Green Island for a few days (very big grin) To finish our holiday off - the last few nights stay at our fav place which hosts four pools Paige and Hannah just adore this place! And in the meantime, I'm hanging on by a thread to get there.... its sooooooo cold here and work is sooo busy.

SO MUCH TO FIT IN....

Anyone would think that I save stuff up and then unleash on this poor unsuspecting blog... but LOL, in reality, it's just a matter of finding some time to sit down and blog it properly. And today, Mother's Day, time spent with the family is a joy. Even the cat seemed to demand attention today. And at the moment, he has no problem opening doors, just wish he could close them behind him! Its very chilly by night time, and a door left open... weeeell there goes all the heat!!!

So lets get to what's happening with scrapping!
