Let's get Shabby Challenge #51

The challenge for this coming month is all about using 'GOLD'

It's been a bit of creative fun developing the rest of this photo of Hannah in a magical whimsical way.

So on went lots of gold sequins, gold cording, gold string and kindyglitz!

Fly-away feet...

And little wings....
where I had to make little cuts on both sides of her arms to slip the edges of the paper wings into.

Little banners trimmed in gold and hung gauze to soften the look...

Hope you can join us!

Life.Paper.Scrapbook October Sketch

Phew, just got this in by 2 minutes to go!!

Love this sketch and worked to create the three butterflies below...

Lots of use of watercolour pencils...
folded lines vertically and horizontally across the paper..
and then coloured those lines with orange and pink... and water brushed so the colour spread.
With a black watercolour pencil, just shaded right on the folds...then briefly water brushed the edges to give it definition.

Stamping Up Butterfly stamp... isn't it gorgeous!
Layered on just by a smidgeon over the other... in colours I love!!
Used a brown watercolour pencils to shade the bodies and where the wings attach for more definition.

Used a black fine-liner to edge the outlines of the butterflies... and even used a white gel pen to draw in the 'tails' of the wings so they look a little transparent under the green butterfly

Added the title, washi tape, bow and some dots...

Here's the sketch... Lots of scope!!!

Paperdvizhnik #28

As soon as I saw the criteria to this challenge over on Sandi's blog... it was exciting to start!

'Reflections'

Paige's very close friend asked Paige if she would take part in a ballet/dance themed photography session (for her school assignment) around our city and this is one of the photos...
The reflection is beautiful - and has not been edited in anyway. I just narrowed it by cutting the 7x5 down after I printed it out to make it look long...
Then was so motivated to paint the background to extend the photo past its boundaries....

(Paige will be performing 'The Dying Swan' next month)

The LO kind of 'evolved...
I first started out by trying out paint colours on the a white paper bag for practice and to gain a feel for the colour mixing I'd need....

Then things were starting to line up

So kept shading and matching....

Hmnnn.... then after a while...
it started to look really good on the bag!!!  So thought I'd use it for the LO and slip some cardstock inside to support it.
And with that, stuck on the photo and thought about adding butterflies...
Black ones?

Or maybe white ones with gesso?

LOL - ended up using both!

and stamped the title through the middle of the real image and the reflection...
not sure why...it just seemed to need some sort of separation..to bring attention to the two sides.

Is it interesting to turn the whole thing upside down even?
Hmmmn.....

You can find the challenge

Get Creative Cards, Our Beautiful World and a Little More Sketching....

I feel like I'm on a 'Card Binge'!  LOL and it's quite addictive!

Here's some more from the fabulous inspiration from
with their 'month of card making'
It does give me a feeling I could get a bit better at card making (smile)
 I'm definitely 'hit and miss'!

This was a bit of fun, as I haven't made an ATC for a long time!
I've made mine out of a ATC sized piece of acetate with a sprinkling of  glued on 'Shaved Ice Glitter' and sequins in white to represent 'Snow'  (its really hard to photograph transparencies!)

------------------------------

I had a lovely little Heidi Swap set of hearts that I've had forever!
It was really nice to be prompted to use them.  Once set in place on the card, gold paint was swiped down the cardstock, pulled off and dried, added a little pink and gold dotty frame over the top, and embellished.  And I've used my Counterfeit Kits here with the gold

---------------------------------------------

Using embossed cardstock, I've rubbed my finger into the inkpad and swiped it gently over the raised embossed areas of the cardstock with pink for the flower petals and green for foliage.  Some green glitter is glued to represent the stamens of the flowers and a bow to embellish...

-------------------------------------------

A little kite stitched on

Still have some more to do, just hoping I get some time!

--------------------------------------

is
LOVE

Sisterly Love...
This photo is so precious.... we went to pick up Paige from the airport who has been away in France, and she flew into Hannah's open arms as she entered the terminal...
There were tears, they missed each other.
It's not the greatest pic in the blurry-ness... but it represents the prompt far more...
Wish the random guy in the background wasn't there..
 LOL.. nevermind.... ever the scrapbooker!
(guess it would have been weird if I'd waved him to move sideways a bit hee hee!)

So thrilled to see that Paige's  'Chill' photo got picked as the favourite for last week's prompt!!
Total fabby!

----------------------

And trying to get that sketch of the Nest finished....
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, its still not, but its on its way...
(Here's were it started)
Here's how its looking after another Art Room session....
(I have a different perspective of the nest from where I sit to draw than the camera has here)

Got inspired by adding some leaves.... still got to add more yet and finish the detail...
Love pastel pencils!

I love this photo of both of them...

----------------------------------------------------------

Project life...
I've used these pages for my 'GRID' designs for Counterfeit Kit Challenges...
used heaps of bits and pieces from my kit - and that's always a good thing!

Week 34
Away for a scrappy weekend away with my girlfriends...
we had a ball.....

Week 35
Three subjects on this page moving horizontally across the page...

Week 36
The garden turned it on for Spring

Week 37
Two subjects here vertically..
The first column is about my wonderful little clay tea pot and cups, and the tea we brought back from Beijing...love it!
The second column is Hannah and Paige meeting other cast members of 'Oklahoma!' for the first time, and reading through the script

-----------------------------------------------------

is having a month of making cards.
I've made a start with four of the cards.... (keep in mind, I'm no cardie, but do love to have a go!)
The girls on the dt there have set each card challenge....

Irini's Challenge
Create with three layers or more...

Use a girlish image...

Use water-soluble colours to colour the card
Lots of drippage in two colours... and 3d stars

Use a banner on card....
I used little buttons threaded together ....

There lol.... going to Scrappy Camp and a crop day with friends helped the mojo and get heaps done!!

--------------------------------------------------------------

CHILL

Paige took this photo when we visited Cradle Mountain in July... and really represents 'chill' with the slow melting of the roof ice - drip, drip, drip.....
Even though this was in Winter,  here in Spring in Tasmania, there are still snow dumps!
Just this weekend, Mount Wellington hit minus 6C with snow.

------------------------------------------

 Oh and I'm SOOO happy!!!
My LO for Sketchbook 365 - WON!
