AT Last... A Day of Scrapping!

A day just for scrapping has been hard to find for the last I dont know how many months... its just been about grabbing time here and there to do a LO here or there.
Yesterday, was THE day - nothing but scrapping and it was soooo goooood!
Here's what I got done...
But first - a discovery (for me at least)
I had just found it... maybe you all know its there... but what an inspiration that become..
Sooooo, what they do is pick a kit each month from somewhere on the net, and out of our own stash at home, we try to match it up as best we can...
Weeeeeeelll, I LOVED doing that! The things I pulled out - and colours I'd never use matching together...the brightness I usually steer way clear of AND patterned papers - eek! (you may laugh, but I just am hopeless at knowing what to do with pattern paper, yet silly - still buy them! Embellies I've had for years, and goodness knows what else. I made up a big kit!
Here is my kit

Here's where you will find the kit Counterfeit picked here
Wow... so many 'old' papers too!
Anyway... to the challenges set there to use this newly formed kit...
The Sketch Challenge
This is really bright for me, but still shabby!

Then we had to pick an online challenge to use our kit... (they gave suggestions)
So I picked 'Use your Stuff' which is a 'Summer' themed challenge...
Whoa... I went bright here!!!  Talk about stepping out of my comfort zone - but it was fun!
Challenge #2  - Make a LO and then make a CARD based on that LO
More fun!
Paige and Hannah
So far, thats all using my kit for this challege blog...  there's more to come... when I can get scrapping again!
Here's another relatively new Challenge Blog too...
and I loved its criteria...
To be inspired by the colours of this pic  (I kinda used it as a sketch too)
Here's how it turned out... Paige as Cinderella
Last but not least,  Get Creative Challenge Blog
I always love playing along here, but being sooo time poor lately hasnt helped...
but yesterday, I was able to catch both the Card and LO Sketch Challenges (big Smile!)
Here's the Card Challenge

Didnt really intend to make a Christmas Card... but this is how it turned out!
The numbers represent the countdown, and even the the numerals 2 and 5 are there... some postal washi tape to represent parcels of gifts sent.... and.....
the splatter represents is how quickly Christmas arrives.. LOL... and there's the 'Merry' and the traditional christmas coloured bow!

Now the LO Sketch Challenge

Little Paige!  Feels a lifetime ago!

I'm still using whats left of my papers and embellies I gathered for my kit from my own stash.. boy its made me use up 'stuff'!
Now after all the fabulous fun scrapping..... time to do housework - ugh!
Have a great weekend!

Pie Graphs Anyone?

Weeell, thats what they look like :P - Pie Graphs!
Time to play with that NEW PRIMA!

(Please excuse the poor lighting in the photographs. I've tried my best with the woeful weather and darkness we have lately and today I just plain ran out of light!)

Anyway... here's the LO:

Love the background paper Prima Romance Novel Harlequin which was sprayed with Glimmermist Afraid of the Dark then using a paintbrush - paint the mist splotches on the page out into a squarish shape and it diffuses the patterned paper a bit... not so busy
Prima Craftman 'Gear Up' Paper  - for the little pies

How spesh are Prima Press Holders and Alphabets oh my goodness... LOVE LOVE LOVE... and I've used gold paint with mine  Easy peasy to use and LOVE how it really worked well with the background paper!

And the DOORS... !!
Used some of Tim's Lavish Trimmings the little rosettes.. gorgeous ! The red alpha is Lillybeedesign.
You can read how this LO was put together in step form HERE

This is the first time I've tried this Challenge blog..

Here's my LO from the sketch (below )

What an amazing sketch!!!  Who cant get inspired by this!
I flipped it on its side, and used misting to give the divide of colour.
The stamped and cut-out arrows with the stamped postal imprint making a road gives an escape route for Cinderella....  The numbers are the counting down of the chimes of the clock ..... Its a bit of fun!
Have a wonderful weekend!

LO for Scrap Therapy

A surprise for Muriel. Couldnt let this opportunity pass by without scrapping Muriel's (Lee-Anne,owner of Scrap Therapy -  Mum's) special night!
The backgrounds are MME, The Sweetest Thing Mischief Paper (reverse side) and Black cardstock
Using Rangers Adirondack Paint Dabbers in the colours of Pool (soldout) and Snow Cap... smudge across the middle.   All the edges are inked or distressed and inked with Ranger Black Soot

The little banner I made from Authentique Curiosity 'Determined' Paper (reverse side) by cutting out all the little people and then sewing them together onto the paper, and held down by MME's brads.
And the fabulous Authentique Curiosity Elements with words that were more than appropriate for this page!

All tied together with my favourite set of Webster Trim :P :P :P :P

Texture Paints and Mists..

If you love playing with wet media, or would like to have a go at playing with it... here's a little step tutorial to try which is created for Scrap Therapy

I love framing my LO's, one way or another - I'll manage it somehow on most of my LO's  I'm not sure why, maybe it just gives it some sort of balance or finish? I really dont know - it just kinda evolves.
Here I've used WRMK's Cherry Cardstock as the outside frame (I always cut my middles out to use for something else and to take some weight out of the LO  ) The background paper is Authentic Carefree Jovial Paper and is cut down a little on each side to show a thin frame of the red. And the little sewn down inside frame is Authentique Carefree Content Paper I've distressed all the edges :P

Step One
Find some scraps and cut into rough little rectangles and stick down on the paper

Step Two
Apply texture paste (this is fabulous stuff!!) with a spatula (so fun to play with!)

Step Three
Time to use those wonderful Ranger Dabbers!!! I've used Adirondack Snow Cap to rub over the texture paste (once it had dried) and then once the Dabber paint had dried, I misted with Perfect Pearls Kiwi. Its really hard to capture the gorgeous glossimer/pearlised coverage it gives, but look through the photos here and I may have captured it once or twice. It gives a lovely sepia/nature tinge to the area.

Step Four
For the smaller inside frame, I've cut a 25cm square and then created the frame by cutting the inside of the square out by leaving the frame about 1cm wide. I cut it roughly because I knew I would distress it, but if you dont want distressing, you might want to be a little more precise in your measurements. Out with the sewing machine with black thread and using zigzag, sew down the frame. If you dont want to sew - use one of these Tim Holtz Die Picks and make zigzag holes and join the dots with a black marker :P

Step Five
Rough up the distressed edges so the red coloured reverse side of the sewn frame can be seen  It should look like this below:

Step Six
Time to add the photo and embellishments. Here I've used three Prima Poppy Flowers and leaves, Prima Resin Mushrooms, Apricot lace trim from Webster Fabric Ribbons set and cut out various sizes of butterflies from Authentique Carefree Relaxed Paper (this is fabulous paper because the amount of butterflies are endless - and a cheap alternative!) The Alpha and little words are Authentique Alpha Elements

Aha! here you can kind of see that lovely pearlised misting! :P :P   Its much more lovelier in real life
