LETS GET SHABBY #17 is up!

It's all about SEWING BOXES!
Go check out the exact critera here

This is probaby one of my favourite challenges!
It doesnt mean you have to sew.... I didnt!

I altered this  Benson and Hedges 'cigarette' tin into a little sewing container...
(it was in Nana-Great's treddle machine drawer with little buttons in it.
(time it had life breathed into it!)
so was painted in and out

Then  padded and covered the insides with a lovely blue vintage print
Added some pins, cotton wound around tiny little bits of card.
Cut little pieces of fabric as swatches -including the blue which was off cuts from
Nana-Greats apron straps. Some old tatting lace.
And some gorgeous old hand drawn draft patterns of little dresses gathered onto a clip.

I got so much joy reproducing these minitures!

Come visit

and see the beautiful creatons of the Design Team which includes the new five Shabby girls!

Drop by and say hi!!

Went way way into the wee small hours...but when on a roll.....
Love Basic Grey Background papers!
This actually is a Xmas one!

Lots of paint here.  Painted the hearts then scalpelled around some of the edges to lift so it gave a bit of a 3d effect. Misted in blue and gold to calm down the bright-white of the background.
This is Paige trying out her new costume yesterday for 'Mrs Darling' in 'Peter Pan'

Hannah amongst the colour.  She is a nature girl.

And some little cards.... I'm so in love with the Prima butterflies.
I have no trouble using them up!

Some quick FAQ's from Anam

1. Currently the App will only work on the iPhone, iPad and iTouch - one app for all is what I believe.

2. There will be a Lite aka Free version with 12 sketches.

3. Each sketch has a sample layout and a supplies list.

4. The price will be $4.99 US for the full app and for that you get 104 sketches plus the 12 free ones.

5. The launch date is still early November - I am working towards the 11th of November all going according to plan. We had hoped for the 4th of November but there seems to be a delay with Apple's release schedule.

6. We are working on getting it to work on all smart phones ie Android, Blackberry etc but the nessicary programming is really difficult as the software is brand new so its going to be a little while - hoping for before CHA winter if not before. As soon as I know, you'll know.and it should work on slightly older smart phones too if i can make it happen so none of this "only the newest" phone deal

And any questions- leave Anam a comment here:

Got a stack of 'work' work to get through tonight in readiness for tomorrow's rehearsals at thestudio, but am taking a little tea break to upload these....
Did some cutting...The little green diecut, butterflies and cage are from DCWV paper 'Mariposa' stack- that is sooo cut-worthy paper and would be fab for cardies!
This is Paige being a bit 'precious' taking photos of herself!!

Some stamping with cream paint and fussy cutting... loving that colour!
Bit of scrunched up and inked tissue paper too.

Cut out the edge of a 12x12 diecut and covered the inside piece with dressmaker pattern tissue paper
and just played with embellies.... it surely signifies the busy fragments of Hannah's life!

SOOOOOO SAD..... and some good news too.

Remember Scrappy?  Her story is here  She died last night.
I knew when I went to check on her earlier last night that things werent good.  I had to lift her up into her nest and she hardly moved.  She was the sweetest little zebra finch - even though she was always a little rough around the edges.  Scrappy was a name that suited her.... she always did look a bit scrappy.

I'm guesting over at STP!  The poem is just beautiful- 'There is Another Sky'.
I hope you will check it out here

Paige as a tiny baby

This is a new challenge site dedicated to use up stash!  I love that!
The criteria is to use 3 patterned papers from 3 different manufacturers...the older the better. Here is the challenge.  Weeeeell OMG! When I started to dig through what I had..... check out this....
Autumn Leaves (the A4 size) 1998! (it says so on it!)  I cut out the middle and folded the sides to reduce the size of it.  The blue pleated paper with the tiny flowers pattern on it is Provocraft (is that even still around?) thats 2002 called 'Forget-me-not'  And the background paper is Karen Foster - thats 2003 called Yellow Floral!   I cant believe what I have in the depth of the paper pile!!!  You should try it!

Here I painted onto a piece of glass(just a piece out of a picture frame)  and just 'had' to finger paint the letters back the front to come out the right way once it was pressed onto the paper.   Just a bit of fun!  Sewn fabric behind the pic with buttons and a bow.
When away at a Scrappy weekend in Bendigo in August.... The gorgeous Bec gave me this ADORABLE photo of her little girl Montana....  and I scrapped it for her - sent it  and so pleased she loves it!!
Isnt she beautiful!

The newest Design Team Members of 'Let's Get Shabby' have been announced...

There is a wonderful $75 voucher up to win from Maxine's Malange

Now isnt that motivation enough to play!!!

Now to some good news that has been in the making for quite a while...
I've been bit of a part of this project!

working with Anam Stubbington
Sketches to Scrapbook is an awesome iPhone & iPad application that is about to launch in early November 2010 which will allow you to think creatively on the go with over 100 unique sketches and layouts to keep you inspired.
It's the result of several long months of inspiration and development from a little idea that Anam had at one of the late night crops she attended last year. There was a full room of people with cell phones looking for inspiration!
The whole premises for the app is that nearly everyone has a phone and more people are buying iphones or smart phones.... and they bring their phone with them everywhere ... to the crops, at the store, to their scrapbooking space. This app is a totally self contained system where you can search the sketches for the one that suits the layout you want to make - you can search by style, by number of photos, by embellishments, even by the number of different papers you want to use.

Anam is the Sketch artist for Prima Marketing and for My Minds Eye and  runs the Sketch Blog "Twisted Sketches" which I was on the DT for 6 months in the first part of this year.
From there, Anam asked if I could create some layouts based on her sketches to go into the application.
It's going to be a fabulous process!

How exciting is this!!!

I think I've done my best work in scrapbooking from the inspiration given to us at ASJ constantly.  It pushes the boundaries that blurs the lines between scrapping only paper - to fabric to canvas and various art media.  This month is all about mixed media and I happily handstitched metal, chiffon, vintage lace, pearls, beads and sequins to a 100yr old piece of quilting - along with it is a row of hooks which has lay for decades in a family treddle machine drawer here at home.
I absolutely need to do more of this - it makes my heart sing.
Go check out the criteria here - and challenge yourself!
The dt samples are incredible motivation!

This is total fun - the criteria is found here
Hand-drawn and cut title....the word 'Go'..... and the colour Green!
Great technique! I had forgotten that this is something that can be easily done especially when an alpha isnt working, havent got the right colour OR not enough of a letter!
Two sisters and a cousin..... close as can be!

Hope you can join in these fabulous challenges!

These yummy goodies arrived yesterday from Scrap Therapy
! I cant wait to use them.
I absolutely love the Maya Road products especially the mists, canvas and chipboard!!!  And check out the flower trims and pleated ribbon!!  I've had fun with the Maya Resist before (check out the 'Fairy' Canvas here )
Bobunny Christmas 'Noel' is to die for!   I know I'm a bit of a traditionalist.... but I love the vintage distressed look and traditional colours of Christmas - and BoBunny got that right.    Doesnt mean I dont like non-traditional colours - but I LOVE the deep golds, greens and red!
Another definitely buy was also BoBunny's 'Learning Curve'..... oooh the background papers in those are just perfect!!

I'm off to scrap!
